The U14 footballers played Gabriel Og in the league in Ballydehob on Thursday 21st July. This was a very exciting game with both sides have their periods in front. After a very enjoyable game played in a good spirit the Kilmacs were disappointed to concede a couple of late goals that decided the issue. It was still a performance with some excellent displays. On Friday 22nd the U16 footballers were in action after a long break when they played Ahan Gaels in Leap in the league. This was a good competitive game and though the team gave them selves a bit of an opening coming up to half time they were made work all the way which should be of benefit in the long term.

The U16 hurlers played Rosscarbery in the league on Tuesday 26th July in Leap. This proved to be a worthwhile exercise. With the group not having a lot done and struggling for players it was a good starting point to see what is available and showed that there is ability within the group. It was welcome to see a number of players tog out and give very creditable performances to enable the team to field and perform and hopefully the enthusiasm and commitment can be retained in the interests of the whole group. The Kilmacs had an advantage in the central positions and this gave them the platform to control the game. This team will be in championship action very soon.
Preparations are underway for the senior fooball clash of  Castlehaven and  O' Donovan Rossaon Saturday 6th August at 3.30pm in the pitch.

Two of last months prize winners were in luck again in the July club draw. Imelda and Annie O Donovan won the first prize. The second went to Amy and Joanne Hamilton, Glandore and third to Margaret Burke, Maulatrahane. Consolation prizes were won by Jim Calnan, Glandore; Breda Whelton, Ballyhilloe; Tim O Sullivan, Gurtyowen and Kevin McCarthy, Reavouler.
The U14 footballers took on Pedlars Cross in the championship in Ballinacarriga on Thursday 7th July. When these teams met a few weeks ago there was a distinct advantage in favour of the Pedlars. This game bore no resemblance and the Kilmacs showing true spirit and for a long time it looked as if they might hold out for a shock victory. Pedlars started strongly and were dominating early on and went they got a goal after 10 minutes it looked as if they were in a position to win at their comfort. The Kilmacs came back and playing well were back in the game and by half time were ahead by 2 points. Playing against the wind for the second half made life harder but giving their all they were still in the game going into the last quarter. Ultimately the greater strength of the Pedlars in the key positions swung the game in their favour but they had to earn it and it was another great effort from this gutsy team. The team deserve every credit. The loss of a key player for the season was a lot for a young squad with limited numbers. Final score  3 -2 to 5-4.  John Patrick Sheehan who had an outstanding game in goal suffered an injury late on and is wished well.
Disappointment was the outcome for the  Junior A team that took on Argideen Rangers in the knock out stages of the championship in Clonakilty on Saturday night 9th July. Starting slowly in both halves the team struggled to match the greater physical presence of the opposition and while a great effort was made the scores needed didn’t come. Final Score 2-7 to 2-6. It could have been much worse as Clive Sweetnam was knocked unconscious and but for the prompt actions of a few people including Ciarán O'Donovan and Kay Ronan it would have been a much more serious situation and puts it all in context. Clive is wished a speedy recovery.
The U10 footballers travelled to play Caheragh on Friday night 8th July and a great night was enjoyed by one and all including all the parents. Timmie O'Mahony and his helpers efforts are appreciated by all involved.

The U14 footballers had a busy and exciting few days when they took part in the Feile Peile na nOg. On Thursday 30th June they travelled to play Glengarriffe and gave themselves a great boost with a win on the score of 2-8 to 0-5. In the evening they were off to take part in the parade in Cork City and were among 185 teams that marched past the viewing stand at The Grand Parade that featured several dignitaries including Christy Cooney President of the GAA. Kilmacabea club was a host venue for the games played Friday 1st July involving Cill na Martra, Glengarriffe, the Scottish Development Squad and Kilmacabea. As all teams were evenly matched there was great excitement, with the result going down to the wire. Having been 4 points up going into injury time and getting caught for a draw at 2-4 each against Cill na Martra, it was all or nothing against the Scottish Development Squad in the last game of the group stage. Starting slowly and going behind early on did not dampen the lads’ spirits and raising their game, they went on to fashion a fine victory on the result 5-9 to 2-3. The final score was a little flattering, as the visitors tired towards the end of the game. This section ran off successfully and was a tribute to all the organisers, stewards and especially the catering group, who surpassed themselves in their hospitality during the day. Thanks also go to the mentors, Bart Kerrisk, Mike Gore and Sean Tobin, who prepared and looked after the team and the players’ families and the community who supported them. A special thanks must go to those who had put a huge amount of time and effort in behind the scenes in getting the event organised including Bart Kerrisk and Anne O’Sullivan with the support of Mike Nash, Kerry O’Shea, Sean Tobin, Mike Gore and all the parents. The team qualified from their group and it was off to Kilmichael to play Glanworth in the semi-final on Friday evening. Unfortunately the exertions of the day caught up with them and their fantastic journey ended there. Squad - Karl Ronan, Ashley Deane, Tiernan Kerrisk, Sean French, Isaac
O'Shea(Captain),  Matthew O'Neill, John Patrick Sheehan, Eoin O'Sullivan, Caelan O'Mahony, Dan Lynch, Darren Whooley, Patrick O'Donovan, Jamie O'Donoghue, Ross Cantwell, Adrian Gore, Conor Nash, Ellis Wilson, Ciarán French, Myles Tobin, Damien Gore, Ian Jennings, Andrew O'Donovan, Odhran Kerrisk, Gareth Whooley. It was a great experience which should live long in their memories and they did themselves proud.
Damien Gore, Aughatubber who played well with the Feile team and also represented the club in the Feile skills competition wasn’t finished yet. On Sunday 3rd July he was part of the Cork Primary Schools team who played their Kerry counterparts in the interval of the Munster Senior Final between Cork and Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium. Another great honour for the player, his family and the club.
The minor hurlers had a good competitive game with Mizen Rovers on Monday 4th July. The team showed improvement and the benefit of games played.
Support is welcome for the Junior A team that take on Argideen Rangers in the knock out stages of the championship in Clonakilty on Saturday night 9th July at 8pm
