Club Notes 16/5/13

Last Wednesday night the club held its monthly meeting at the GAA pavilion. Chairman William Williamson welcomed everyone to the meeting and began by congratulating both the U21 footballers on their fantastic championship victory and the Junior A footballers for their great win over Gabriel Rangers in the first round of the championship. He added that the hard work that was carried out in the early months of the year was the catalyst for the U21’s success. The club also wished the team the very best of luck in their upcoming County U21 game against mid Cork outfit Canovee.

Michael’s nephew Willie Lawton, a fellow gael from Midleton, wished to thank the club for the fantastic show of support by both young and older members of the club, at the removal and for the guards of honour which the club carried out. Notes 13/5/13

The U14 footballers played Newcestown in Newcestown on Monday 13th May. The team played with the wind in the first half and with the sun behind them and working well together they were able to put together decent scores. Newcestown came back at them in the second half and set about reducing the gap and while it looked as if it could go either way for a while the Kilmacs were able to reaffirm their position for the win. This was a strong performance especially from the more experienced players. Ian Jennings had a good game at full back and later when he had the legs when needed out the field. Jamie Ronan picked up the world of ball in all areas of defence and used it well. Jamie O'Donoghue covered acres of ground and was equal to everything that came his way. Damien Gore got through a huge amount of work and was prominent on the score board as well. Myles Tobin linked well with those around him. Ashley Deane had a super game at center forward showing well and winning ball, getting some fine scores, even if at time he was over generous in giving his team mates opportunities and got alot of attention from the opposition. Keith Whelton showed well and linked effectively. Conor Nash settled in well and contributed a fine score. Ellis Wilson led the line well, always available and able to take scores and link with other players. Oisin O'Driscoll settled into the game showing his skill as the game progressed. Team Adrian Gore, Jamie Ronan, Ian Jennings, Odran Kerrisk, Eolan Dineen, Jamie O'Donoghue, Dara Tobin, Damien Gore 1-8, Myles Tobin 0-1, Oisin O'Driscoll 0-2, Ashley Deane 1-2, Keith Whelton 0-1, Ciaran Hernon, Ellis Wilson 1-1, Conor Nash 0-1, David Whelton, Christy Wilson, Sean Burke.
