Fixture U16 hurling league final vs. Mizen Og in Goleen on Sunday 4th December at 11am. Match cancelled.
The U16 footballers played Clanna Gael in the final of the league on Sunday 27th November in the Marsh Skibbereen. After the very heavy rain in the days leading up to it the pitch was in as good a shape as could be expected with a little water on the surface. Playing with the benefit of the strong wind the Kilmacs settled quickly. With Gavin Daly repeating his effort of the previous week with an early goal the Kilmacs were on top. With goals also from Richie O’Sullivan and Euan Tobin they were in a strong position at half time ahead 3- 8 to 0 – 2. Clanna Gael had a bigger input in the second half as would be expected and while they created opportunities of their own the gap was too big to close. A few knocks also disrupted the flow of the game but the Kilmacs had enough in reserve and won the game 3 – 9 to 1 – 5.The trophy was accepted by Richie O’Sullivan, captain. Well done to all the players for their efforts over a long season and their mentors Kevin O’Driscoll, William Williamson , Martin O’Sullivan and Tom Hayes.

The U16 footballers played Kilmeen in the semi final of the league in Rossmore on Sunday morning the 20th November. With the opposition having won the championship it was expected to be a tough test. The conditions were difficult after the heavy rain in the days preceding. The Kilmacs got off to an ideal start when Gavin Daly was able to finish to the net in the first minute. Kilmeen responded but the Kilmac team was playing with a good balance and settled into the game and were worth the half time lead of 1 –7 to 0-2. Kilmeen did start the second half with a goal but the Kilmacs closed the game out and were always in control to finish on the score 2-15 to 2-3. This was a good team performance and was a welcome return and was hugely important after events in recent times.
Several of the players were off to the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork after that to receive medals from Conor Counihan, Cork Senior football manager for being part of successful Cork County underage football teams in 2011. Niall Hayes and Richie O’Sullivan were part of the U16 team. Martin Collins, Diarmaid O’Callaghan, Euan Tobin and Kevin Whooley were part of the U15 team.

As things start to wind down on the playing fields there are important issues to be addressed in having structures in place for the smooth running of the club. The Annual General Meeting is fixed for Friday 9th December at 8.30 in the Club House. Nominations for positions or notices of motion need to be submitted to the club secretary by November 18th. Anyone who feels they have something to contribute to the development of the club on or off the field are welcome to come along.
Tickets for the club monthly draw are now on sale for the coming twelve months. The prize fund will again be €1,000 per month and tickets €10 per month. The draw raises funds to cover the repayment of the loan that was taken for the development of the facilities. In difficult times the support of the community is welcome. The first two draws will take place on the night of the AGM

Result U15 football championship semi final vs Sam Maguires in Clonakilty on Tuesday 8th November at 7.30pm.

Despite the dismal weather conditions last Sunday morning, 30th October 2011,in Clonakilty Bandon and Kilmacabea served up an entertaining game of football in the Junior A Football league final. John O Driscoll despite carrying an injury struck for a well taken goal early in the second quarter to give Kilmacs a 1 – 2 to 0 – 1 lead. However three unanswered points by Bandon had the margin cut to the minimum by half time. Kilmacabea only added two points in the second half, but some good defending and some squandered chances by the opposition had them still leading with time running out. However like in the first half Bandon finished the stronger and had edged in front by the end of normal time and added two more points in injury time to copper fasten the football double. Having been out of the championship since early July Kilmacs can take some satisfaction from a creditable performance at the close of the season. Final score Kilmacabea 1-4 Bandon 0-10

After the recent traumatic events it was time to try to move on this past week. The U16 footballers played the championship semi-final against Ilen Og on Wednesday 5th in Castlehaven. While everyone put in a good effort it was a night when individually and collectively few were at their best and victory went to the better team on the score 2-7 to 0-8. Good luck to Ilen in the final.
On Saturday afternoon Kilmacabea junior footballers got a late season morale boost when they overcame Gabriel Rangers in the league semi-final in Ballydehob. An early goal by Joe Collins gave Kilmacs a bit of a cushion. Gabriels were picking off the points with the aid of the breeze in the second quarter when Ger O Donovan again found the net for Kilmacs to leave the half time score 2 - 3 to 0 - 6. In the second half against the breeze Gabriels continued the pressure but Ger got inside the defence to notch another Kilmac goal. Gabriels never gave up but Kilmacs held out for 3 - 5 to 0 - 10 victory. They now face Bandon who will be going for the championship/league double in the final.
The U13 footballers played Pedlars Cross in the league final on Sunday morning in Rossmore. There was a very strong wind in Kilmacs favour for the first half. The young Kilmacs were playing well but while they had a slight advantage at half time on the score of 0-5 to 0-2 it didn’t look nearly enough especially as Pedlars had created chances of their own. The Kilmacs scored a goal at the start of the second half but as this was cancelled out by Pedlars with a goal of their own immediately it looked as if the struggle would be too much. With a few positional switches, amazingly the Kilmacs settled to the task and playing with good controlled use of possession, went on to play better against the wind. With every one playing their part they were able to show their ability and while the margin was tight in the end they were deserving of their victory on the score of 1-8 to 1-7. This was a welcome return for a group who have persevered even when results haven’t always gone their way and with fine individual performances it was the team effort that fashioned the win. Well done to the mentors Bart Kerrisk, Michael Gore and Sean Tobin for the work put in over the year. John Patrick Sheehan made a number of key saves especially during the first half and was very dependable throughout. Tiernan Kerrisk was outstanding in defence especially in the second half when he took over the centre back role. Ellis Wilson showed all his football awareness both defensively and in attack. Sean French won a huge amount of possession and was unbeatable all through. Ross Cantwell had one of his best ever days showing all his natural ability to win possession and use it positively. Jamie O Donoughue was strong all through and always had the advantage on his opposite number. Darren Whooley though upagainst a much bigger opponent didn't let it bother him and won a huge amount of possession and was always at the heart of things. Dan Lynch had an outstanding game, winning abundant possession, moving and linking effectively and able to finish with fine scores for a man of the match performance. Damian Gore as always was at the heart of the attack, working tirelessly, linking with others and finishing deadly. Myles Tobin won a lot of possession and linked well with the rest of the attack for his best game of the season. Ciaran French worked hard in attack in the first half but it was when he reverted to wing back that he really came into his own with his ability to read the game, win possession and use it. Caelan O'Mahony worked hard in attack even if it didn't always work out and the delivery didn't benefit his game. Ian Jennings put in a huge effort all over the place and showed great promise throughout. Adrian Gore and Karl Ronan came on and played their part. The Kilmacs had the advantage of the strong wind and were making the early running. The loss of Declan O’Sullivan with a painful finger injury midway through the half disrupted the flow and a soft goal was conceded soon after to level the game. The Kilmacs responded with a goal of their own but the lead at half time of 1-6 to 1-2 did not look enough in the conditions. Again the team individually and collectively responded and with some tremendous displays all over the pitch, were able to respond to the challenge and even extend the advantage. Some late Skibbereen scores made for a nervous final few minutes but the team was not giving in and were worthy winners on the score 1- 9 to 2 – 4. This was a tremendous show of spirit and heart by this group and showed their enthusiasm for the game. When these teams met in the first round of the league Kilmacabea had to borrow two players from their opponents to play the game. Consolation prizes were won by Norma Whelton, Clounties; Michael Glavin, Dromillihy; Christy and Anne McCarthy, Maulmoreen and Adrian O Driscoll, Kilmacsimon.
