The U12 footballers played St Mary’s on Wednesday 15th in Leap and had a little bit more skill in scoring than their opponents. The U14 footballers played Argideen Rangers on Thursday in Leap and after a exciting game felt unlucky to lose by a point after a close game. The U13 footballers played Clonakilty B on Monday 20th in Leap. While the teams were evenly matched through the field the Kilmacs had the advantage nearer the goal and took their chances well.
The club was recently presented with a Lee Flag award. This is a recognition of the achievement of the club in reaching targets and putting structures in place for coaching and this has been achieved under the direction of Johnny O’Sullivan.
The U12 hurlers travelled to play Mizen Rovers in Goleen on Thursday 23rd June. The team didn’t get much time to settle and there were three goals in the net in the first minute. The first half continued in a similar manner and it looked to be a long and fruitless journey. Credit to the lads as they turned around in the second half and it was as if a different team was playing. After a mighty effort the gap was too big but it was a encouraging performance by one and all. Team Odhran Kerrisk, Jamie O’Donoghue, Davina Connolly, Christy Wilson, Ellis Wilson, Myles Tobin, Dara Tobin, Ian Jennings, Conor Nash, Ashley Deane, Chantelle French.
The minor hurlers travelled to play Oliver Plunketts in Ahiohill on Monday 27th June and after a good team effort were the stronger team and showed good prospects. Team Diarmaid O'Callaghan, Liam Thompson, Odhran Connolly, Finnán Tobin, Niall Hayes, Declan O'Sullivan, Liam Cahalane, Kevin Hayes, Eamon O'Sullivan, Denny Hayes, Oisin O'Sullivan, Kevin Whooley, Martin Collins, Euan Tobin.
This week is very busy with the club hosting games as part of the clubs participation in the U14 Feile Football. On Thursday 30th June the club plays Glengarriffe in Glengarriffe and then takes part in the parade from the Marydyke to The Grand Parade in Cork city in the evening. On Friday 1st July the club hosts games from 10am to 1.30 involving Cill na Martra, Glengarriffe, the Scottish Development squad and Kilmacabea. It is hoped it will be a worthwhile experience for all involved. It is hoped as many as can will help out to give a welcome to the visitors.
It is also a big weekend for Damian Gore Aughatubber and Glandore National School who will be part of the Cork Primary schools team playing their Kerry counterparts in the lead up to the Munster final game between Cork and Kerry in Fitzgerald stadium on Sunday 3rd July. Sarah Hayes of Glandore National School and Rosscarbery will also be playing. A great honour and memorable occasion for both. Michelle O’Driscoll of Keelinga and Maultrahane National school also recently played for the primary schools team following in her brothers footsteps and did herself and her family proud.
