Club Notes 4/2/12

Congratulations to Pat Burke, Maultrahane who was among those honoured in the  Buckley Financial awards ceremony in The Maritime Hotel, Bantry on Saturday 28th January. He was among the group of Carbery Junior captains who won County titles. Pat captained Kilmacabea to victory in Junior B football in 1994.

There will be a presentation night for the successful underage teams on  this Saturday 4th February in the clubhouse at 7.45pm. Medals will be presented to successful teams including the minor hurlers, the U16 hurlers and footballers and the U13 footballers. The U12, U10 and U8 players will also receive a recognition for their year. The club presentations for player of the year, young player of the year and club person of the year will also be made.
Presentations will be made by Cathrach Keane who was captain of the Cork Junior Football team that won the All Ireland in 2011.Cathrach has family connections with the O'Donovan family , The Quay, Leap. Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy themselves


Registration night to be held on Friday 10th February 8 to 9pm in the clubhouse. Club gear will also be available.

The first prize winner in the monthly club draw in February was Gretta Finn, Church Cross, Skibbereen. The second prize went to Richard Jennings, Keelinga and third went to Peggy O'Donovan, Gortnadihy. Consolation prizes were won by Brian Hayes, Cullenagh; Helen O'Donovan, Ballyroe, Pat and Anne Burke, Maultrahane, and William Williamson, Killenleigh.

The draw for the Junior A football championship was made recently and Kilmacabea were drawn against Barryroe in the first round which should take place in April.

The U21 footballers are fixed to play Tadgh MacCartaigh in the first round of the championship in Skibbereen on Saturday 25th February at 3pm.
