The minor footballers were the first team in competitive action when they played Kilmeen in Leap on Saturday 18/2/12 in the league. This was a good test for the team. The team played well but there was also as would be expected at this time of the year a bit of rustiness in the play. The day was fine and dry and surprisingly good for a game at this time of the year. The pitch had dried up during the week but the overnight rain made it very dead with no bounce and testing on the stamina. The Kilmacs had a greater share of the ball but a lot of hard won ball broke down in moves and a lot of wides were kicked. The Kilmacs were ahead at half time on the score of 0-7 to 0-2. A couple of points were added at the start of the second d half but when Kilmeen goaled after 10minutes and added another point it looked as if the balance may swing their way. The Kilmacs settled and were able to add a few more points and the final score was Kilmacabea 0-14 Kilmeen 1-3. Team David O’Donovan, Aidan Williamson, Niall Hayes, Odhran Connolly, Shane McDermott, Declan O’Sullivan, Diarmaid O’Callaghan, Martin Collins, Euan Tobin, Kevin Whooley, Liam Thompson, Paudie Cronin, Oisin O’Sullivan, Richie O’Sullivan, Denny Hayes, Eamon O’Sullivan, Kieran O’Sullivan, Kevin O’Donovan, Gavin Daly.
