Notes 10/9/12


Last Sunday 9th September the second junior football squad booked their place in the West Cork Junior C final. Playing football worthy of a higher grade they ended up with a bit to spare over near neighbours Castlehaven in Skibbereen. Team - David O'Donovan; Brian Hayes, Brendan O'Driscoll, Thomas Jennings; Ruairi Hourihane, Colman O'Riordan, Sean O'Regan; Noel O'Donoghue, James O'Donovan; Colin McCarthy, Paul Tobin, Noel Crowley; Aidan Glavin, Barry Glavin, Oisin O'Sullivan; Brian O'Donovan, Eamon O'Sullivan. 

The U16 footballers played Ahan Gaels in the quarterfinal of the championship on Wednesday 5th September. The team was on top for the first half and well in control. Ahan came strong for the second half and created chances of their own. The Kilmac’s regrouped to affirm the win and progress to the next round.   O’Donovan Rossa were the visitors to Leap on Friday 7th September where both sides put in a spirited effort in the U12hurling league with the home team getting a welcome win. Team Peter Hayes, Christy Wilson, Rhea Wilson, Sean Twomey, Oisin O’Driscoll, Ciara Whooley, Ian Jennings, Odhran Kerrisk, Dara Tobin, Billy Murphy, Robbie McQueen, Adrian Gore.

The first prize winners in the September club draw were Christy and Ann McCarthy, Maulmareen, second went to Karl McCarthy, Aghatubber and third to Declan Hayes, Glandore. Consolation prizes were won by Dan Duggan, Kilfinnin; Den Joe and Marie Twomey, Madranna; Pat McCarthy, Glandore and James Crowley, Cappanaboha

The club is organising a Rebel Og/Mercy Foundation Fun walk. This is to take place on Sunday 30th September at 2.30pm and will be around Leap village(not too strenuous). Funds raised will be shared between the underage club and the Mercy hospital.

Kilmacabea GAA club have the honour of hosting the West Cork Junior A football final between Tadgh MacCarthaigh and St Oliver Plunketts on this Saturday 15th at  5.30pm. The game is preceded by the junior D semi-final between Carbery Rangers and Ilen Rovers at 3.30pm. Help will be needed to ensure that this is a success.

Fixtures U12hurling league vs Mizen in Goleen on Saturday 15th September at 11am. As fixtures are liable to change check locally prior to travelling.
