Kilmacabea GAA club had the historic honour of
hosting the Carbery Junior A football final for the first time when Tadgh
MacCarthaigh and St Oliver Plunketts played an exciting game on Saturday 15th
. Victory went to the men from the West after extra time. It’s becoming a
bit of a tradition for big games to go to extra time when hosted in Leap. Thanks
to all who helped out with the preparation of the ground, the organisation in
the lead up, stewarding, traffic, parking, catering and all the other things
that need to be done to ensure an event such as this runs off smoothly. Thanks
to Brian and Anne Sheehan and James Crowley for the use of land for parking.
The club would like to congratulate Ruthanne
Sheehan, The Leap Inn who competed in the Ultra running 24hour World Championship
held in Kratowice, Poland on the 8/9th September setting a new Irish
record, finishing 5th in Europe and 7th in the world.
The second junior team lost by one point 1-8 to 1-7 when they played St James in Leap on Sunday morning as the playing season winds down.
The U10/8's travelled to play St James in Ardfield also during the week.
